The Journey of a Sermon
2m read
During the pandemic in 2020, a small group of volunteer moms banded together to create “A Place to Do Something,” an online Sabbath school program for the many families around the world who could not attend church in person. It was clear that they were meeting a real need because the interest started pouring in and from that small beginning, the ministry has grown rapidly into “Starting With Jesus” (SWJ) today.
As a fledgling ministry with so much potential, we adopted SWJ as an official ministry of AudioVerse to give them organizational support and structure so they could focus on serving the many families around the world.
In just the past few years, they have produced weekly Sabbath school programs that are aired online and on 3ABN, developed several daily devotional podcasts for multiple age groups of young people and parents, created VBS programs for churches to use, crafted an entire evangelistic series for kids, organized their first mission trip for young families, and this is just scratching the surface!
Never underestimate the drive of determined, God-fearing mothers on a mission to reach their children for Jesus!
With the incredible history of rapid growth and endless potential ahead, it became clear that SWJ has outgrown the support system that we are able to provide here at AudioVerse. The last thing we want is to hold back this incredible and dynamic ministry! So just as with our own children, both of our teams recognize that SWJ has grown up and that the time is right for them to become their own entity.
So we are happy to share that as of January 1, 2024, Starting With Jesus will officially begin operations as their own 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Update for Donors of Starting With Jesus
Because this transition will involve changes to the back office financial systems, we want to inform those who have been donors of SWJ of some upcoming steps they should be prepared to take.
Through the end of 2023, AudioVerse will continue to process all donations for SWJ and will issue receipts for tax purposes for 2023. This means no changes are required before the end of this year.
However, starting in early 2024, all donations should transition to be processed directly through SWJ’s donation portal. All donors will be informed by a separate email when the time comes to switch along with the instructions on how to do so. AudioVerse will continue to pass through donations earmarked for SWJ for a period of time after that date, but that will result in tax receipts from both ministries for tax year 2024.

We praise God for the incredible impact that SWJ has made on young lives around the globe, and we have been privileged to have played a small part in providing them a safe launching pad. Our partnership will continue into the future and more SWJ content will continue to be made available to our listeners on AudioVerse. We are excited to see what God will do in the next phase of SWJ’s journey.
